We often think of a service industry as the hotel industry, restaurants, and Uber/Lift/Taxis. Many don’t consider medicine a service industry….but it is!!
Historically, physicians have had an attitude that patients are going to come to them because they are smart, well trained and provide the best care. If every doctor has that outlook, what differentiates one doctor or practice from the other?
Today, consumers/patients are far more discerning and utilize a variety of things to determine which doctor they will choose and how their experience with the doctor will effect following up with them or recommending them to someone else. Our medical businesses need for our patients to come back for repeat care so that we can help them achieve the success we and they desire. Patients coming back for follow-ups not only helps their health, but it also helps the health of the business.
