It’s the time of year where Fellows and 3rd Year Residents are starting their job search. I’ve received a number of resumes and talked to my fellows about strategies to get the right job, how to create a resume and cover letter, how to interview and what compensation expectations should be.
A number of you have sent me messages asking me what is the best method to finding and hiring an Associate.
Hiring an Associate is a big step and not too different from getting married. When we get married we usually date for a while, get engaged and then later get married. When hiring an Associate, it’s more like a mail order bride. We look at some resumes, have a phone call or two, meet in person for a limited amount of time and then make an offer and get married. The person who you hire often wants to be a Partner in some time and get a large portion of ownership. With all that being said, you need to improve the process.
Take a look at today’s video which provides some tips on how to get started.
Have a great week.
