Dealing with the New Normal

I would never have imagined spending as much time at home as I have during the last several weeks.  I am sure most, if not all of you, feel the same way. If this is what retirement feels like then I’m definitely not close to being ready.

After a couple of weeks of non-stop crisis management it finally feels like we’ve fallen into a new normal.

With this new normal comes a lot of pitfalls.  The opportunity for inactivity. To feel sorry for yourself.  To eat poorly. To withdraw from others.

It’s important to maintain a productive schedule and I’ve read that having a positive routine really helps when working from home.

Every morning, I get up and have coffee and do some work.  After, I work out, take a shower and get dressed. I don’t sit around in pajamas or sweats all day.  It’s important to have a normal routine to your day as much as possible. I try to keep a balance of fun and human connection, while at the same time scheduling time in my day to get work done so I don’t treat it like a vacation.

Oddly enough, I’m working just as many if not more hours than I did before COVID19….which isn’t necessarily a good thing.

I address some of these challenges in this week’s video.

Have a great week.
